What is ProTactile (PT)?
ProTactile is a method of tactile communication that allows an individual who is DeafBlind to have more reliable information about the visual elements of their environment (people smiling/nodding). ProTactile allows people to establish tactile communication channels in different ways.
Who is eligible for FREE PT Training?
- Individuals who are DeafBlind
- Support Services Providers (SSP)
- DHH Teachers
- Interveners who work with people who are DeafBlind
What else is covered under the Training Program?
In addition to PT ASLIS will be discovering and sharing “Other Communication Systems” used by people who are DeafBlind. Other communication systems include anything that helps the DeafBlind individual engage in their environment and have a more robust communication experience. Since degrees of hearing and vision loss vary widely, communication systems also will be highly individualized. What works for one person may not work for anther.
