*Greater Minnesota refers to the area outside the seven-county metro area. The counties that are excluded from being recognized as Greater MN are: Anoka, Scott, Carver, Dakota, Ramsey, Hennepin, and Washington.*
The 12 Step program coordinates access to interpreting services for 12 Step program meetings for consumers in Greater Minnesota, including access to virutal meetings, Deaf 12 Step mentoring, and an intensive 12 Step interpreter training.
No Deaf/DeafBlind/hard of hearing individual should go through the frustration of getting a last minute interpreter while grieving. No one also should shoulder the burden of worrying about paying for an interpreter while handling the funeral arrangements of their loved ones.

Improve communication access across Greater Minnesota! Interpreters are paired with an experienced mentor to focus on increasing the interpreters’ confidence and skills when accepting a wide variety of community assignments.
Interpreters will be provided with opportunities to meet with their mentor to exercise a variety of interpreting skills through virtual mentoring sessions.
Protactile is a method of tactile communication that allows an individual who is DeafBlind/ deafblind to have more reliable information about the visual elements of their environment (people smiling/nodding). Protactile allows people to establish tactile communication channels in different ways.
