Springboard is a program that empowers interpreters who are new to the field to gain experience and confidence in the freelance interpreting community.
ASLIS will work with up to 5 qualified interpreters, who are not yet certified, through Springboard for the duration of the fall semester (roughly the first week of September until mid-December). We’ll help each participant schedule jobs to team on, intern on, or volunteer for weekly.
There will be workshops on a variety of topics, homework tailored to each participant’s goals, and the top 3 participants will receive $100 scholarship towards the certification test of their choice at the end of the program.
- Attend workshops such as: Interpreting in AA, Team Interpreting, Educational (College and K-12) Interpreting, Church Interpreting, and Certification.
- Participants typically get around 5-20 hours weekly, depending on their schedule and available jobs.
- We want participants who plan to stay in MN for at least 2 years after completing the program.
- Participants should be flexible, have good boundaries, a lot of availability, great communication, and a commitment to improving both hard and soft skills throughout the program.
Chosen participants will be charged a one-time $50 fee for the program
