Michele Rolewitz

Michele Rolewitz was born in Moorhead, MN and raised in Fargo, ND. She attended the North Dakota School for the Deaf in Devils Lake, ND and National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester in Rochester, NY. Michele had Deaf grandparents, therefore learned sign language at a young age. Both, her mom and dad are fluent in ASL.

Michele worked at the North Dakota State University in the Financial Aid and Scholarships Department for 37 years. She taught American Sign Language for community education and at the secondary and collegiate levels. She has mentored families with Deaf children, ASL students, and professional interpreters. 

Her mentoring specialty is being able to help build an individual’s ASL confidence. She focuses on enhancing their use of ASL grammar, classifiers, non-manual markers (NMM), facial expressions, and more.

She is actively involved in the North Dakota and Fargo/Moorhead Deaf communities. Michele has three daughters, who are all CODA’s, and is a grandmother to eight beautiful grandchildren. Michele always has a positive attitude and can put a smile on your face. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, canning, traveling, reading, and spending time with family. She lives with her three cats: Boots, Bella, and Pixie.
