Mike Cashman a native Minnesotan from St. Cloud. Starting at age 6, he attended a boarding school for the deaf at Faribault, MN. He spent his formative years there. Mike went on to get his B.A from Gallaudet and eventually he earned advanced degrees from the California State University at Northridge (CSUN) and the University of Minnesota –
(Twin Cities). Over the years since 1977, Mike was involved with many programs in different capacities. He started at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) and moved to Indianapolis to become a lead counselor with the Community Service Agency for the Deaf. Mike eventually went back home to work with the State of Minnesota. Most notably as the Deputy Director of the Minnesota Commission Serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. After about 20 years he left state to become the Regional Director for CSD, covering North Dakota and Minnesota. The yearn to teach K-12 students in the classroom beckoned and he left CSD to teach at the Delaware School for the Deaf. After three years of teaching, Mike left to work at MSSD. That came to a full circle. Now retired and home in Minnesota with my family and six grandchildren. Mike enjoys reading books and discussing politics.
