Come learn about Social Security’s work rules in the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program and the work incentives available to help you maximize your benefits and earnings from employment. During this workshop, you will learn the common misconceptions about the SSDI program and how to be proactive in managing your SSDI cash benefits and how to avoid overpayments. Scenarios will be presented and discussed. Have questions? Come to get answers! Note: this workshop is ideal for people who are currently receiving SSDI and are either working or thinking about going back to work.
Presenter Bio
Melinni “Mel” Taylor, MSW, is a certified Community Work Incentive Coordinator (CPWIC) and the owner of Deaf Future Works Consulting based in Austin, Texas, serving nationwide.
Deaf and fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Gallaudet University. Previously, she worked as a case manager and an addiction counselor for nonprofit agencies. Mel works with individuals and organizations to advise them on issues, procedures and matters related to the Social Security benefits program.
