Event Details
This interactive workshop is designed as an experiential and potentially transformational examination of wholeheartedness as it relates to interpreter effectiveness. We will look at the influence of professional stress conditions on interpreter well-being and explore what is at stake for individuals and for the interpreting profession. Participants will identify factors that build on, or degrade their unique sense of resilience.
Educational Objectives:
• Describe the differences between vicarious trauma, empathic strain (compassion fatigue) and burnout;
• Identify significant professional and personal consequences of unresolved vicarious trauma;
• Define resilience as a professional strategy for interpreters;
• Examine and list at least 2 personal sensitivities that interfere with professional effectiveness;
• Access 2 individual strategies for recovering well-being and building resilience in difficult situations;
