Power Dynamics of Language and the Words We Use
Sarah Houge, MA. MEd. CDI
Ms. Sarah Houge (she/her) has worked in various capacities around the state as a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI), mentor, teacher, program coordinator, as well as globally in project management and training. She has extensive experience as a consultant and trainer for Deaf schools and associations, nonprofit organizations and communication services both locally and abroad. Sarah is passionate about working with all stakeholders to support full access and promote growth, as well as educating interpreters and the community about working with a CDI!
Laura SkyQuest, CDI
Laura SkyQuest (they/she) is a staff Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) for ASLIS and works in a variety of settings: medical, legal, theater, musical, DeafBlind and community events. Laura holds a graduate degree in Deaf Education and has worked in K-12 Deaf schools for the past 15 years. Laura values educating the deaf and interpreting communities about equitable access and working with deaf interpreters.
Paula Ozuna-Clark
Paula Ozuna-Clark (she/her) works at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Director of the Interpreting/Captioning Unit, providing access all across the University. Paula is also a Deaf Interpreter and mentor, and enjoys conversations about language and community. She enjoys exploring new places, nature, and spending time with family and friends, as well as coffee and chocolate!
Diego Ozuna-Clark
Diego Ozuna-Clark (they/he) is a Strategic Support Coordinator at the National Deaf Center, leading technical assistance activities all across the United States with the goal of increasing graduation rates of the deaf youth. On the side, they are also a Deaf interpreter, a consultant, and have many other side gigs. They enjoy traveling, trying new food, and call themself a sneakerhead. A proud Texan native, they now live in Saint Paul with their wife, a kid, and two big dogs.
