4/25: Part 1 of the Self-Evaluation Tool
5/2: Part 2 of the Self-Evaluation Tool
5/16: Self-Evaluation Tool in Action and Peer Coaching Practice
Self-evaluation is essential to interpreter skill development and retention, yet it can also be bewildering to do so effectively, on-site or remotely. All decisions interpreters make are filtered through myriad factors, which can be hard to identify, track, and know how to improve. For maximum effectiveness, the right tools are necessary. This three-part workshop series will guide interpreters and trainers through a formal, vetted self-evaluation tool that offers a measurable way to identify strengths and target growth areas, regardless of interpreting specialization or modality. After thoroughly reviewing the tool, attendees will apply it to themselves with ample guidance and feedback.
The first two workshops will focus on the two parts of the self-evaluation tool, and the third workshop will give the interpreters a chance to apply the tool, receive feedback, and practice coaching.
Educational Objectives:
1. Discuss the self-evaluation tool and how it supports remote interpreting skill development.
2. Identify reflective, non-judgmental questions to ask yourself while working with the self-evaluation tool.
3. Discuss why self-evaluation is necessary as practice professionals and how it supports the communicative autonomy of all.
ASLIS virtual workshops are NOT recorded for later viewing.
