Event Details
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Interpreting is predicated on decisions before during and after any assignment. When working with a team, we must collectively make important decisions that impact our consumers’ interactions. How will introductions be made? What preparation work needs to occur with consumers? How should I switch with my team? What cues or signals can my team and I use for support? How can we feed each other? These are all common “what” and “how” questions asked amongst a team. But is there something else a team needs to address?
We all can agree that a solid team is essential to a successful experience for our consumers. That solid team is built on a foundation of trust, which requires having open, honest dialogues about our work. In this interactive discussion, we will examine how using a cognitive bias framework our personal beliefs, perspectives and schema greatly impact our decision-making process. We will discuss how to unpack those hidden factors to maximize effective interactions between consumers and interpreting teams.
Educational Objectives:
- To identify opportunities in common pre and post assignment briefing practices.
- To illustrate benefits of debriefing with a cognitive bias framework.
- To develop strategies for incorporating a new framework in their debriefing practice.
