Event Details
Remote interpreting is becoming a part of many interpreter’s portfolios and continues to evolve and change. However, if you have never done VRI before or perhaps you’ve been working in VRI for a while but want to review the basics, this is the workshop for you. During this workshop we will explore the different ways you can be a remote interpreter, how to determine if you’re ready, the platforms you may be interpreting on, encounter management strategies, as well as advocacy strategies for equitable language access. VRI comes with its own unique demands but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming and you’ll walk away from this workshop with a better understanding of how to get started. She is co-author of the upcoming textbook The Remote Interpreter coming this spring.
Educational Objectives:
- 1. Evaluate interpreter’s preparedness for remote interpreting.2. Identify scenarios where VRI is effective and encounters where VRI is not equitable or effective.3. Determine next steps to begin interpreting remotely.
ASLIS virtual workshops are NOT recorded for later viewing.
