An important part of interpreting is ethics. Historically, ethical decisions and “rules for interpreters” have been thought of as one and the same. This Independent Study is an opportunity to do some soul-searching and broaden your view of ethics. This is done through the Demand Control Schema, Case Conferencing, and how they impact ethical decision making as an interpreter. You will read 4 articles and then write a 2-page minimum paper. Questions are provided. |
Educational Objectives:
1) Demonstrate an understanding of the Demand Control Schema and Case Conferencing.
2) Identify and explain specific examples of what demands and controls are in interpreting work. 3) Evaluate the idea of formal supervision for interpreters. |
