ASLIS is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This Professional Studies program is offered for a total of 0.2 PS CEUs at Some Content Knowledge Level.

Charmaine Koppinger is an ASL Interpreter for 37+ years, NAD 5 certified, a graduate of Miracles in the Marketplace International, and a licensed and ordained minister of Christians United Ministries, with an emphasis on Deaf Ministry since 2014. As an ASL practitioner, the wholistic approach of mind, body, and spirit is integrated in the work as an interpreter. This is particularly true when people are grieving various types of losses and need community, such as at a funeral/memorial/celebration of life, where inner healing is in process. Her Deaf mother helped found 2 local deaf churches; Highland Park Deaf Church, St Paul, 1972 (now renamed Deaf Life Church), and Pleasant View Deaf Assembly, Spring Lake Park, MN, 1983, where she experienced full immersion of Deaf Culture in a tightly held community, experiencing various cycles of life in a church family. Her first interpreting jobs were often funerals for people in her own community based on relationship vs costly unknown interpreters. Interpreting funerals is a privilege of being purposeful for another in their intimate, raw moments of taking steps forward. In grief one’s world around can feel like it’s detached or slowed down. Our presence makes a difference.

Dixie Duncan, RID CI CT, NAD 5 and QMHI, has been employed with ASLIS for 8 years now. As part of the ASLIS team, Dixie interprets and coordinates the North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota region. Dixie has been a certified ASL interpreter for more than 30 years, and interpreting for funerals for 25 years. She has specialized training in Atypical Language of the deaf as well as mental health interpreting and holds her QMHI certification. Dixie has been married 25 years and they have five beautiful daughters and one grandchild. She keeps herself busy outside of work by spending time with family and friends.
