Greater Minnesotans who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing face barriers to attend their local 12 Step programs. Due to the small size of these meetings, often the groups are unable to fund the cost of the interpreter. Through a state grant, ASLIS is able to provide a solution for this barrier by providing and funding interpreters for 12 Step meetings. ASLIS can also provide advocacy strategies to assist groups in becoming accessible.
