This is two part workshop, Part 1 will be on Thursday, April 10th and Part 2 will be on Thursday, April 24th. Attendance to both is not required.
“Are you anxious about interpreting medical appointments? This workshop is designed to help you: identify if you are qualified for an assignment, develop rapport with consumers, reduce errors, increase situational awareness, and provide a safe space to ask questions about interpreting in the medical field!”
Educational Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
1. Be able to determine if they are qualified to accept a medical assignment
2. Develop appropriate communication strategies to engage with mentors/stakeholders to prepare and debrief when necessary
3. Develop appropriate communication strategies to engage with consumers and providers in order to do no harm
4. Identify and utilize resources to prepare for new types of medical assignments and procedures

Presenter Bio
Jessica Valle is a Nationally Certified Interpreter specializing in STEM and Performing Arts interpreting. She currently works as a Designated Interpreter for a Deaf Medical Professional.
