Event Details
How many times have you seen a request for a job that is outdoors, and wondered “What do I do to prepare?” “Will I need to participate in the activity?” “How do I dress appropriately?” and so on? This two-hour workshop will help introduce interpreters to outdoors interpreting from the perspective of a deaf professional in the natural resources field. The first half will be a presentation on what I’ve seen and learned, and the second half will be an open discussion with the audience on any question you might have had about interpreting outside the classroom, office, hospital, court or other indoor spaces. All types of questions are welcome and all interpreters are welcome to attend!
Educational Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Attendees should be able to feel more comfortable about signing up for interpreting jobs that are outside and demonstrate an improvement in their understanding in what is involved in outdoor interpreting. I will be sharing a short pre workshop self assessment to the audience at the beginning of the workshop and a post workshop self assessment near the end of the workshop
ASLIS virtual workshops are NOT recorded for later viewing.
