Mentoring Specialty Areas: ASL and Deaf Education, Medical Terminology, Mental Health Counseling, Self-Advocacy, and Transition Services
Rebecca Edwards, M.Ed., is an experienced educator, mentor, and lifelong ASL/English user with over eight years of combined teaching, mentoring, and tutoring in a variety of settings, including higher education. She holds a BS in Health Education with minors in Biology and Psychology from Western Oregon University, as well as a certificate in medical billing/coding from Chemeketa Community College. She earned her M.Ed. in Deaf Education with a focus on ASL/English bilingualism from Utah State University.
Rebecca’s diverse experience spans multiple areas within Deaf Education, including working with both older and modern communication modes, such as SEE, and supporting individuals with special needs from PreK-12 and beyond. Her background also includes expertise in medical terminology, science, mental health counseling, child development, and self-advocacy. She is passionate about supporting students through transitions and life changes, fostering greater cultural understanding and diversity awareness.
Rebecca offers personalized mentoring based on her extensive knowledge in the areas of ASL, Deaf Education, medical and mental health fields, and self-advocacy. Each mentoring relationship begins with an assessment to identify individual needs and goals, and ends with a review to measure growth and set future development objectives.
After living in Utah and New Mexico, Rebecca now resides in Oregon with her two older teenage daughters. Rebecca enjoys spending her free time outdoors, writing, reading, and caring for her pets. Rebecca looks forward to supporting your professional journey!
