An interactive presentation focusing on common anatomical structures of the cervical and thoracic spine. In-depth focus on common pathologies that impact the field of ASL interpreters, specifically video interpreters, related to overuse and poor movement patterns. Presentation alternates between lecture, Q & A, and active movement labs.
Educational Objectives:
Participants will be able to identify specific anatomical features of the human body as well as name specific orthopedic conditions that are common to ASL interpreters and other work related injuries. Through return demonstration participants will be show application of specific techniques designed to improve the functional movement of the ASL interpreter.

Presenter Bio
Joel is an active certified interpreter with 20 years interpreting experience. Prior to becoming certified as an ASL interpreter Joel studied and graduated from Loma Linda Universities School of Allied Health Physical therapy program. He has since pursued a passion to integrate functional movement to the field of ASL interpreting and other professional workplace settingsprone to risk of injury. As a Certified Movement Specialist Joel seeks to apply the value of intentional movement to the life of the every day working person.
