Event Details
Interpreting agencies of all kinds offer video remote interpreting (VRI) services, including for American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken languages. ASL interpreters have a crucial opportunity – and responsibility – to help shape VRI providers and ensure equitable VRI practices. This workshop will empower participants to vet VRI agencies, advocate for improved practices, and promote the appropriate application of VRI technologies.
Educational Objectives:
After this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize successful and problematic agency approaches that undermine equitable VRI access.
2. Develop effective communication strategies to guide agencies towards best practices.
3. Confidently engage with spoken language VRI providers.
ASLIS virtual workshops are NOT recorded for later viewing.
