Event Details
When interpreting, you’ll inevitably have to jump in to mediate or ask for clarification among countless other needs. How you make a request and how effectively you include soft skills will determine the level of rapport and collaboration experienced. The way interpreters manage remote sessions can seriously affect the experience of all participants and can condition participants on what to expect the next time. In this workshop, we’ll go through everyday situations interpreters deal with in remote settings, especially when things get tough, and we will develop scripts and strategies to get what we need to do the job effectively while supporting a collaborative experience.
Educational Objectives:
After this workshop, interpreters will be better:
1. Equipped to discuss the impact different communication styles have on encounters, participants and the profession.
2. Prepared to apply scripting for diverse encounters where strategic mediation is critical to the success of the encounter.
ASLIS virtual workshops are NOT recorded for later viewing.
