Do you work, or plan to work, in video remote interpreting (VRI) settings where you may come across a Deaf with low vision or a Deafblind consumer on the other end of the line, or as part of a group? This workshop will cover a basic review of what Deafblind is and then cover best practices for working with Deaf with low vision and DeafBlind consumers in this setting.
Educational Objectives:
* Learners will review the basics of what DeafBlind means
* Learners will observe several examples of how different backgrounds and clothing impact the ability to observe the other party
* Learners will learn about some best practices for working with Deaf Low Vision and DeafBlind individuals in video conferencing settings

Presenter Bio
Patrick is a deafBlind member of our community. Born and raised in New York as the youngest of five children, he was mainstreamed all the way and graduated from high school with an apparent standing ovation. After graduating high school he moved with his parents to North Carolina and graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a BA in American Sign Language and minor in Business Administration. In 2019 he moved to Minnesota to start working at Target Field and today he continues to work there during the Twins’ season while also working at Target Center for the Wolves. He now also runs his own business, ILY by Tricio.
